TOM AND JERRY
«Tom and Jerry» — a series of animated shorts created by American animators William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. In the storyline of each piece depicts the rivalry of cat Tom and mouse Jerry.
The pilot edition of the project «the cat gets a kick» was created in 1940. After the success of the Duo Hanna-Barbera wrote a script to 113 series that was screened in cinemas before the showing of feature films until 1958. After closing the animation Department of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer since 1960-ies, the cartoon was created in the studios of Rembrandt Films and МGM Animation/Visua Arts (also known as Sib Tower 12 Productions) under the leadership of Gina Deutsch and Chuck Jones respectively.

Since the 1970s, spin-offs involving the cat Tom and mouse Jerry were created by companies Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. In 1992 in theaters was the first animated feature of the same name, where the main characters are voiced and talking throughout the tape. Later, the creators decided to return to the style of the first episodes, releasing for channel Boomerang short episodes of «the Mansion Cat» and «the Karate guard». Currently the rights to the animated series is owned by Warner Bros.

«Tom and Jerry» quickly gained recognition from the audience and has gained popularity worldwide. However, most of the episodes were criticized for the depiction of violence and cruelty of the main characters and a weak plot in some short films. Nevertheless, the history of cartoon received 7 Academy awards for best animated short film.
Famous cartoon got for cruelty and violence. Often in a short series seem moments with explosions, cutting characters and even death, but most of the times there is no blood, and the main characters already for the next release once again be alive.

A big role in short films, plays music: it tries to convey the feelings and emotions of this or that hero. Especially notable is the role of composer Scott Bradley. It combined together elements of jazz and classical music, has created a complex and original scores, but often the songs in the episodes represent the recycling of popular tunes.
